The Cleveland Browns have been the subject of trade rumors for much of the offseason this year and last year, revolving around superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett.
Any contender would love to have Garrett, who broke the single-season sack record in 2025, on their team. So, when the Browns reworked his contract, seemingly opening the door for a trade, trade rumors picked up steam once again.
However, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter on The Pat McAfee Show, the Browns have made a firm decision on Garrett's trade rumors, shutting them all down and making it known they have no plans to move on from the superstar pass rusher.
Browns shut down Myles Garrett trade rumors again
"I called the Browns," Schefter said. " (The Browns said), 'We are 100% definitely not trading him.' They were adamant about it. Don't even bring it up and dignify it. We're not trading him. This was not done to trade Myles Garrett; this was done to gain more cap flexibility.
— Pat McAfee (@PatMcAfeeShow) March 26, 2026This is a very strong stance for the Browns to take, as they are making it clear, through Schefter, that they have no plans to trade away Garrett this offseason.
Despite the contract change making it seem like Garrett could be had for the right price, the Browns aren't actually entertaining a trade of their superstar defensive lineman.
Schefter followed that initial report with a further explanation of the Garrett trade situation, revealing more about what these option bonuses being moved around could actually mean.

"The option bonuses were moved every year in the contract, so it wasn't just this year," Schefter said. "So could there be a point in two or three years when it's easier to trade him? Yes, absolutely. But the Browns say, 'we're not trading him.'"
Cleveland moving some money around does make a trade more feasible, but based on this reporting from Schefter, that doesn't look to be the case this year.
While a trade down the line could be possible, for now, the Browns have no intention of trading their superstar defensive lineman, who just had 23 sacks last year.
For now, Garrett will stick with the Browns despite this contract decision seeming to open the door to a deal. Maybe in the future things will change, but this offseason, Garrett isn't going anywhere.
