The Cleveland Browns dropped to 2-6 this afternoon after a 32-13 defeat at the hands of the New England Patriots.
Rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel struggled in his fourth career start, completing 21 of 35 pass attempts for 156 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
With the Browns' offensive struggles over the last few weeks, it's fair to question whether or not the former Oregon standout is ready to helm an NFL offense.
Kevin Stefanski sticking with Dillon Gabriel
At his post-game press conference, Cleveland head coach Kevin Stefanski revealed whether he was considering benching the Browns' third-round pick.
"Every position you have to look at, but with a young quarterback, there are going to be ups and downs," Stefanksi said via Jeff Schudel of The News-Herald.
The Browns are on bye next week, but Stefanski committed to Gabriel being his starter when Cleveland takes on the New York Jets in Week 10.
In five appearances this season, Gabriel has not always looked great. His 1-3 record as a starter leaves a lot to be desired.
With high-profile fifth-round rookie Shedeur Sanders on the bench, the cries for the former Colorado Buffalo will only get louder as the season progresses.
Sanders was inactive today due to an injury; Bailey Zappe served as the backup.
At 2-6, the Browns don't have much to lose the rest of the way, and they'll likely want to get a feel for what every quarterback on the roster could offer them.
