The Cleveland Browns are juggling a quarterback situation right now, with both Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders vying to start as the Browns' season spirals out of control.
But, in the midst of the controversy, a forgotten quarterback, Deshaun Watson, could be making his return to the practice field soon, according to Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot.
"The Browns could open quarterback Deshaun Watson’s 21-day practice window soon, but it’s not expected to be this week," wrote Cabot.
Deshaun Watson could be back at practice soon
"The Browns can open the window at any time after Watson missed the requisite first four games of the season under terms of the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list."
Watson, who hasn't seen the field since rupturing his Achilles on October 20, 2024, may end up seeing some time on the field with the Browns towards the end of the season.
The former Clemson product has been a non-factor in Cleveland since coming over in a trade with the Houston Texans.
In 19 starts, Watson has a 9-10 record, totaling 3365 yards with 19 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He's completed 61.2% of his pass attempts.
The Browns obviously regret the trade that cost them their relationship with former No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield, but at this point, Watson may be the best quarterback on the roster when healthy.
Gabriel has been underwhelming in his short stint as Cleveland's starter, and Sanders is a complete wildcard. If Watson is medically cleared, its not hard to imagine the Browns wanting to see what they can get out of the $230 million man.
