The Denver Broncos have been very quiet in NFL free agency, as the franchise has yet to sign an external free agent despite having a few glaring needs.
One need that Denver has yet to address is tight end. Evan Engram is currently slated to return as the starter, but the Broncos could use an upgrade, and they could be eyeing a Cleveland Browns free agent to address the position.
Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated reports that Denver had interest in Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert before he re-signed with the Eagles.
Now, Breer mentions David Njoku as a potential target for the Broncos.
"I’m not sure the Broncos are done yet at tight end. Denver has had interest in Dallas Goedert, and David Njoku is still unsigned," Breer said.
Njoku had a down year in 2025 with just 293 yards and four touchdowns. The 29-year-old had his starting spot taken by Harold Fannin Jr. in Cleveland, leading to his departure this offseason.
Though Njoku was ineffective this past season, the former first-round pick has shown that he can be a dynamic playmaker when given opportunities.
Just two years ago, in 2023, Njoku had 81 receptions for 882 yards and six touchdowns. In 2024, the Miami product tallied 64 receptions.
Adding Njoku would give the Broncos' offense another viable receiving threat and a savvy veteran security blanket for quarterback Bo Nix.
Njoku should also be cheap to sign, and with Denver having $22 million in cap space, they should make a move for the 88-game starting tight end and bolster a position room that is one of the weakest on the roster.
