The San Francisco 49ers have reportedly added a wide receiver in free agency.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the 49ers are signing former Houston Texans wide receiver Christian Kirk to a one-year deal worth $6 million.
"Sources: The 49ers are signing WR Christian Kirk to a 1-year, $6M deal," Schultz reported.
Kirk spent the 2025 campaign with the Texans, where he tallied 28 receptions for 239 yards and one touchdown.
Kirk's best game with the Texans came in the wild-card round, when he went off for 144 yards and a score in a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The 29-year-old has one 1,000-yard season under his belt, which came in 2022 with the Jacksonville Jaguars. While he has never returned to that form, Kirk is still a capable wideout and addresses San Fran's need for depth.
With Kirk in the fold, the Niners now have a top three that also includes Mike Evans and Ricky Pearsall. Kirk offers some versatility with his ability to line up in the slot and out wide.
The 49ers are highly unlikely to be done at wide receiver this offseason.
On top of having to unload Brandon Aiyuk, whether that be via trade or release, we would expect San Francisco to add another wide receiver in the 2026 NFL draft to bring some much-needed youth to the position.
