Tottenham Hotspur are set to have quite the busy transfer window, as the Lilywhites intend to get their defensive woes sorted out amid a massive squad overhaul. Those woes were among the reasons that the North London club was bound for the Championship for a better part of the campaign, until they secured survival in the Premier League on the final day of the season.
Their overhaul can be seen in motion with their signings of Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson, helping to provide some serious depth to their backline for the upcoming campaign.
While there has been some additional discussion about the potential signing of Jan Paul van Hecke and Sergi Dominguez in recent weeks, it appears that Tottenham could see a potential piece of their future depart North London.
Tottenham's potential departure
As reported by The Athletic’s David Ornstein and Sebastian Stafford-Bloor, the Lilywhites have received a bid of £30m for their wonderkid defender Luka Vuskovic, who has been on loan at Bundesliga outfit Hamburg, with this interest being limited to the Seagulls at this moment in time.
“Brighton & Hove Albion have made a £30million offer to sign defender Luka Vuskovic from Tottenham Hotspur,” writes Ornstein and Stafford-Bloor. “There is also strong interest from leading clubs elsewhere in Europe — but Vuskovic’s idea is to join a side like Brighton as the next step in his career and then potentially progress from there.”
While being a defensive anchor for the German side, recording 44 interceptions and winning out on 18 tackles, Vuskovic would manage to score six goals.
The Croatian joined the Lilywhites last season, before being sent out on loan to further his development. If he makes the move to the south coast, it would allow the 19-year-old to be employed in a system that has been known to produce wonderkids in recent history.
It’s worth noting that, given his performances in the German top flight, Vuskovic would be a worthy player to receive game time as Spurs look to rebuild their backline.
