— Yahoo Sports (@YahooSports) April 1, 2026Stewart stunned the WNBA when she left the Seattle Storm and signed a free agent contract with the rebuilding Liberty in 2023. She won her second MVP award that season and led New York to the WNBA Finals, where the Liberty lost to the Las Vegas Aces.
The following year, Stewart -- part of the Liberty's "Big Three" with Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquel Jones -- helped the Liberty to their first-ever championship in a classic five-game Finals win over the Minnesota Lynx. Last month, she won Unrivaled -- the 3-on-3 league she co-founded with Lynx superstar Napheesa Collier -- as a member of Mist BC.
Stewart, who has two children with her wife Marta Xargay, was born and raised in Syracuse before she embarked on a decorated NCAA career at UConn. Her comments Wednesday made it clear that home is where her heart remains.
