Brazil target a return to former glory as they begin the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as the five-time winners get Group C play under way with a difficult match against Morocco on Saturday from MetLife Stadium, the site of the eventual final.
The that produced Pele and Ronaldo has the most World Cup titles of any nation across the globe, but they have not lifted the famous trophy since 2002, the nation's longest drought since they broke through with their first in 1958.
Their 2026 squad does not boast the same level of stardom that Brazil are used to, but still claim the likes of Vinicius Jr, Casemiro, Raphinha, and the illustrious Neymar, who is in the squad but will not play in this opener due to injury.
Led by Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti, Brazil are hoping to enjoy things as much as they did the last time this competition was held on American soil, when they triumphed back in 1994.
They have a difficult test to begin the summer competition, as they face seventh-ranked Morocco who boast some of Africa's biggest stars and are coming off a spot in the Africa Cup of Nations final just a few months ago.

Prematch
1 p.m. ET: Brazil will be without Neymar for this first World Cup group stage match, as he continues to recover from another muscle injury that was worse than initially believed. He is expected to be back for later games, but the real heartbeat of this team is Vinicius Jr.
The Real Madrid star has not been able to recreate his superstar club levels with the national team, scoring just nine career international goals in 49 appearances for Brazil. Yet he is the heartbeat of this Selecao attack, and if they are to make a push deep into the tournament, they will need him to up his level.
Vini said five-time World Cup winners are aiming for nothing short of lifting the trophy. Tonight will be a great test of those credentials!
