Braxton Berrios gets torn apart online after cracking ‘shady’ joke about Alix Earle split

Braxton Berrios was stuck playing defense against Alix Earle fans after he seemingly poked fun at their breakup with his latest social media post.

The NFL star returned to Instagram Thursday to share his first post since news of his split from the influencer surfaced last week.

“What did I miss?” he wrote in the caption alongside several images showing him walking by himself and alongside his Houston Texans teammates.

It didn’t take long for the influencer’s fanbase to call out the athlete for the apparent shade.

“Every single performance of Alix’s,” wrote one commenter, referring to Earle’s stint on the ABC dance competition series, in which she and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy finished in second place behind Robert Irwin.

Berrios, 30, attempted to defend himself from the onslaught of fans by responding, “Sadly I wasn’t able to travel like that in-season.”

Another netizen commented, roasting the athlete, “I fear this is giving “I’m single” thirst trap.”

Meanwhile, a third added, “Where is your PR team with this caption?”

Berrios also shut down speculation that his post was intended to be “shady,” responding to another comment to explain that his caption “was absolutely not supposed to be” interpreted that way.

To clear up the confusion, Berrios pinned a comment that read, “People don’t get your caption referring to the Drake song.”

Drake released a song of the same name in July as part of the rollout for his forthcoming ninth studio album, “Iceman.”

Fans started suspecting Berrios and Earle, 24, were experiencing relationship struggles after two years of dating when he didn’t show up to any of her “DWTS” performances.

However, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model shut down speculation at the time, claiming “he couldn’t come [because] of football.”

A source told Us Weekly earlier this month that the two called it quits because they were “growing apart as a couple.”

Earle “really wants to spend more time in LA, while Braxton lives in Florida,” the insider shared.

A source also told Page Six that the breakup was “distance-induced.”
