The Atlanta Braves fan base has pretty much been begging for starting pitching over the past few months, and it's only becoming more of an issue as Atlanta deals with more injuries each and every day.

At this stage of the year, the Braves would have to hit the free agency market with limited options or make a trade to find someone to come in and give them innings.

FanSided’s Austin Owens predicted that former New York Mets pitcher Frankie Montas would be the guy to come in and do just that.

“One team's released player is another team's treasure (or something like that). This philosophy could potentially be applied to Frankie Montas in 2026. Montas spent last season with the New York Mets and went 3-2 in seven starts with a high (6.28) ERA. The Mets decided there was no room on their roster for the 32-year-old hurler. Now, Montas is just waiting on the best fit.”

“Although they likely won't pursue Giolito, the Braves are still likely to make some move to address their starting pitching need. This may be far from what Atlanta fans want to hear but Montas is far more likely to land with the Braves than about any other available starter out there.”

If this were Montas a few years ago, I'd say the Braves should be all over him right now. However, the reality is that there's a reason why the Mets decided to designate him for assignment, and that's without factoring in some of his injuries.

Considering what he's dealt with injury-wise, he also doesn't bring much stability to Atlanta's rotation.
