Trey Yesavage got the best of Aaron Judge on Wednesday night.
As part of a highly anticipated matchup between the Toronto Blue Jays and New York Yankees, the young right-handed pitcher struck out the 6-foot-7 superstar three times.
It was part of an absolute gem for Yesavage. He threw 6.0 shutout innings and allowed just two hits. He struck out eight.
Yesavage lowered his season ERA to 1.07.
Afterward, though, he wasn't particularly impressed with himself for the three strikeouts of Judge. Reporters were probably looking for a more boasting answer when they asked Yesavage about the punchouts.
Instead, this is what he had to say, via MLB.com's Keegan Matheson:
“He’s a good player. I try to strike out everybody. I guess it’s an accomplishment to strike him out three times, but I try to do that to everybody.”

In some ways, that's as confident an answer as Yesavage could've given. He acknowledged that Judge can play, but he also admitted he just wants to K everyone who comes to the plate.
Yesavage has the stuff to do that, and lately, it feels like he's pretty much been doing just that. Almost no one is touching him right now.
The youngster missed the start of the season recovering from injury, but he hasn't missed a beat since returning to Toronto's rotation.
The Blue Jays still have a lot of injuries that are hurting their cause, but at least Yesavage is doing everything he can, including in Wednesday night's 2-1 win.
Even if Yesavage won't say it too strongly, it really is quite notable that he struck out Judge three times on the night.
