The Toronto Blue Jays have been active this winter, and while they're seeking more lineup help, the rotation is vastly improved.
Shane Bieber is back, Dylan Cease signed for $210 milllion, and Cody Ponce joined for $30 million as well. Adding on Kevin Gausman, Trey Yesavage, and Jose Berrios, the Blue Jays' rotation is an incredible group.
MLB.com writer Keegan Matheson predicts that this rotation will be the best in Major League Baseball in 2026. It's a bold prediction, but with how much potential it carries, it's not that far-fetched.
Blue Jays predicted to have best rotation in MLB
"Blue Jays: Toronto will have the best rotation in baseball," Matheson predicted. "All of the pieces are there. ... Injuries happen, and you can't always predict pitching, but the Blue Jays have set themselves up well as any organization in baseball."
Toronto has a great crop of starters to choose from, with a six-man rotation of Gausman, Cease, Bieber, Yesavage, Ponce, and Berrios being a great one.
But that's not all. The Blue Jays also have Bowden Francis and Eric Lauer as depth options for the starting rotation. Not only is the starting rotation good, but the backups are also great choices as well.
Combined with their solid bullpen and lineup, it's not a surprise that the Blue Jays are viewed as one of the top contenders for 2026.

But this prediction from Matheson, that the Blue Jays will have the best rotation in baseball, is one that every Blue Jays fan is hoping for.
Part of why the Blue Jays' rotation looks to be so good for the 2026 season isn't just the high-end talent of Cease, Gausman, and the others. It's the high-quality depth as well.
Their fourth, fifth, and sixth starters would make a decent 1-2-3 on another team. Yesavage, Berrios, and Ponce are quality options in the rotation, and they won't be relied upon to lead this group.
And that doesn't even include Lauer and Francis, or any other minor leaguer or further depth signings. Toronto has a great rotation, and Matheson predicts they'll have the best in baseball in 2026.
