The San Francisco 49ers haven't had the services of wide receiver Ricky Pearsall in each of the last two games, including their wild-card victory over the Philadelphia Eagles last week.
That's because Pearsall has been battling a knee injury that once again had him on the team's injury report in the days leading up to the divisional round contest against the Seattle Seahawks.
Pearsall did show a sign of progress this week, though, as he turned in three limited practices after not taking part at all last week. Pearsall also shed the ankle injury he was listed with last week.
However, he once again has a questionable tag for Saturday night. Here's what we know about Pearsall's chances of suiting up in the divisional-round contest against Seattle.
Is Ricky Pearsall playing tonight?
We don't have an answer to this question yet, as neither the team nor NFL insiders have confirmed Pearsall's status ahead of kickoff.
However, Pearsall did tell reporters during the week that he's confident he will play, so we'd give him a better than 50/50 shot to suit up.
“Yeah I’m pretty confident. I’ve been to every practice this week. Yeah, you guys saw me practice last week, but if you really saw me practicing, I couldn’t really lift up my leg very well," he said. "This week it gave me a little bit more optimism that I’ll be playing this week. I feel more confident.”
While it's good to see he has a good chance to play, Pearsall also admitted that he won't be 100% until the season is over and he can get some rest, so that could obviously impact his performance if he does suit up.
Pearsall's status is even more important this week. The Niners are extremely short-handed when it comes to pass-catchers after tight end George Kittle was lost for the season last week after suffering a torn Achilles.
We'll get final confirmation on Pearsall's status an hour and a half before kickoff, when the Niners and Seahawks release their inactives.
