Blue Jays' Ernie Clement got his baseball glove on eBay

Ernie Clement was nominated as a finalist for two Gold Gloves this season.

The Toronto Blue Jays' contact-hitting wizard was put up for the award at both third base and in the newer utility position.

That's cool in and of itself.

It's all the cooler when you learn that Clement is playing the infield with an old glove he bought on eBay.

ESPN's Tim Kurkjian shared the story in a recent article, and it's pretty remarkable.

Just a few months ago, Clement made the purchase.

"Mine was getting worn, so this one looked good on eBay, so bought it,'' Clement told Kurkjian. "I have to wear a glove underneath my glove because this glove is so old, it has no padding in it.''

You can see that in the picture at the top of this article. Clement appears to have a batting glove on underneath his fielding glove.

There's something magical about baseball players and their gloves, though. Once they find a good one, they won't let it go.

Clement told Kurkjian he looked for a new glove because his was getting worn out. And now he's got leather on his hand that could be even older than his past glove.

That glove on Clement's left hand in the World Series might have a remarkable story before this point that no one will ever know.

But it's in the World Series now, practically glowing gold, part of the Blue Jays' hope for a first championship since 1993.

Sometimes, the glove just fits.
