Bills urged to get Josh Allen an 'alpha' weapon in 2026

For new Buffalo Bills head coach and offensive coordinator Joe Brady, his first year in the big chair isn't going to be for the faint of heart.

He's taking over a team that needs to win a Super Bowl. There will be no grace period for Joe, and at the very least, he needs to maintain what Sean McDermott did -- win double-digit games and make the playoffs.

But to do that, Brady has to fix one issue that his recently promoted general manager hasn't done in years, and that's get Josh Allen a top receiver.

Or as NFL.com's Kevin Patra calls it, an alpha.

"Perhaps with Joe Brady taking over, the restrictor plate will be taken off the Bills offense in 2026,” Patra wrote. “Buffalo needs an alpha, first and foremost. At the very least, it needs to completely revamp the receiver room to withstand injuries.”

What alpha can Buffalo get?

The first name that jumps to mind is A.J. Brown.

The Philadelphia Eagles receiver is likely on his way out, so he could be available. I do have concerns about the fit, as Brady's scheme is all about whoever is open getting the ball, so Brown might not consistently get many targets.

And we know that's a problem for him.

Still, the talent is undeniable, and if Brady can smooth things out for Brown, Allen could have himself quite the weapon if they want to go down that route.

It might be pricey, but then again, alpha's aren't cheap.
