Bills miss out on star wide receiver for Josh Allen in College Football HQ's mock draft

The Buffalo Bills have their eyes set on the playoffs after clinching their NFL-leading seventh-consecutive postseason berth. They currently sit with the No. 7 seed after losing to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17 - a week in which the Houston Texans defeated the Los Angeles Chargers to bump the Bills out of the No. 5 seed.

While all eyes are on a hopeful run to the Super Bowl for the Bills, mock draft season is upon us as many teams will begin their offseasons after next Sunday. In College Football HQ's latest mock, Nick Merriam has the Bills selecting Texas A&M edge rusher Cashius Howell.

"In a similar vain to Detroit’s selection, Buffalo has long favored bigger defensive linemen and lacks speed on the edge," Merriam writes. "Howell would give this front seven a third-down threat after the team added young interior pieces in 2025."

Bills fans would love to see Buffalo draft a receiver, but Merriam has the New York Jets snagging Denzel Boston to go along with quarterback Dante Moore six picks prior to the Bills being on the clock.

"The Jets simply don’t have enough weapons besides Garrett Wilson, Merriam writes. "Boston would add a bigger body and some verticality to this new Dante Moore-led offense."

The Bills missing out on a wideout and running back a similar cast of pass-catchers in 2026 would drive fans crazy, and be a glaring indictment on general manager Brandon Beane, who has failed to bring in anything resembling a star receiver since trading Stefon Diggs.
