The Buffalo Bills are feeling pretty good right now after slaying the Kansas City Chiefs 28-21 at Highmark Stadium to move to 6-2 on the year and take a big step in the AFC standings.
But the football gods were on hand in Buffalo, and defensive end Michael Hoecht, who, it could be argued, was having his best game as a Bill, consistently living in the backfield, was seen limping off the field in the second half.
We didn't know what the injury was at the time, but we do now, and it is devastating for the defensive end and the Bills' defense.
Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, via head coach Sean McDermott, Hoecht tore his Achilles and will be out for the year, in what is a brutal piece of news for Buffalo.
But it gets worse.
According to TSN insider Dave Taylor, Hoecht had some family and friends in the stadium, and had planned for a bigger gathering on November 17 when the Bills face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Hoecht injury update brutal after Chiefs win
The Bills were no doubt riding high after their win over Kansas City, but this Hoecht news is a gut-punch for a defense that finally had everything come together in such a devastating manner.
Hoecht managed half a sack along with one tackle as he was a constant disruptive force, and the Bills' defensive line was a problem all night for Mahomes and Co.
Seen as one of the key pieces acquired in the offseason, along with Joey Bosa and Larry Ogunjobi, now, the Bills will be without Hoecht for the rest of the season, as McDermott will now have to look at the rotation and depth chart to see if there is cover.
It was a great win for Buffalo, but some of the shine has come off of it with Hoecht's injury.
