Bills-Chiefs Keon Coleman-Xavier Worthy trade has taken an unexpected twist

The Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs made a trade during the 2024 NFL Draft.

The purpose of the trade was for the Chiefs to trade up a few spots and get Xavier Worthy. The Bills traded down a few spots and got Keon Coleman.

Two young wide receivers, both of whom would get a chance to play with top-notch quarterbacks.

This was the full deal from the 2024 draft:

• Buffalo receives pick No. 32, No. 95, and No. 221 
• Kansas City receives pick No. 28, No. 133, and No. 248 

The focus of the trade was on the Worthy and Coleman comparison.

Two years later, it appears both teams might have gotten an underwhelming return.

Worthy looked flashy as a rookie but didn't show any growth in his second campaign.

Coleman had a nightmare second season in which he was benched multiple times.

Making matters worse, both teams could've had Ladd McConkey, who was the next WR off the draft board to the Los Angeles Chargers

We spent so much time analyzing the Bills/Chiefs draft day trade involving the picks that became Xavier Worthy and Keon Coleman that we didn’t consider the possibility that both teams could lose.

If someone was taking bets right now, it seems more likely that Worthy works out than Coleman, but both obviously have a lot of physical tools and need more polish as professional wide receivers.

This trade seemed like it could be a massive one between two top AFC foes. 

Instead, it's been rather disappointing both ways.
