Warriors receive positive trade news regarding Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Golden State Warriors were arguably the favorites to land Milwaukee Bucks franchise star Giannis Antetokounmpo, but fell short at the trade deadline. However, they may have another chance at grabbing the Greek Freak.

Fansided’s Bryan Toporek believes that by the end of this upcoming offseason, Antetokounmpo will be wearing a different uniform, and the Warriors are one of the teams that could grab him.

“Much like this year's trade deadline, the Bucks could hold up the entire offseason market if they try to stall before entertaining trade offers for the Greek Freak. He'll have only one guaranteed season left on his contract, though, so he can effectively force the Bucks to trade him by pledging not to re-sign with them as a free agent in 2027. The Golden State Warriors swapped Jonathan Kuminga for Kristaps Porziņģis at the trade deadline, but they still have pathways to acquire Antetokounmpo,” Toporek wrote.

So far this season, Antetokounmpo is averaging 28 points, 10 rebounds, 5.6 assists, and 0.9 steals in 30 games. He’d be the inside presence to Stephen Curry’s outside, giving the Warriors complete control of the offensive side of the court.

Antetokounmpo only has a year left on his contract, but he also has a player option for 2027-28, so if he likes being on the Warriors, he probably would exercise it. That would give Golden State two years of Antetokounmpo, and at least one year of a Curry-Antetokounmpo duo.

Hopefully, the Warriors are crafting up a package to offer the Bucks as soon as possible, as other contenders definitely will try to make their own offers for Antetokounmpo.
