Pokemon Legends Z-A wouldn't be a Pokemon game without the inclusion of Pikachu, the series' mascot. Interestingly, it can also be obtained fairly early in the game in a manner, allowing players to shape the build they like around the iconic Electric-type mouse creature.

This guide explains all there is to know about Pikachu in Pokemon Legends Z-A, namely its stats and nature to help it shine best in battle. Here are the details.

Best Nature for Pikachu in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Pikachu is an Electric-type that evolves from Pichu with a high Friendship level. It can be found in Wild Zone 3, while Pichu is in Wild Zone 1. Simply take Pichu to Pokemon Cafes a few times to raise its Friendship, after which it should be eligible for Evolution in the Party menu.

Since Pikachu's both Atk and Sp. Atk base stats are relatviely close, it can be a ranged Special Attacker, in which case the best Nature for it would be Modest (Sp. Atk+, Atk-). A high Special Attack stat means ranged Special moves will be more powerful than usual, such as Thunderbolt and Thunder.

Those who want a Physical setup can go for Jolly (Spd+, Sp. Atk-). Speed stat in Pokemon Legends Z-A increases move cooldown, and paired with low cooldowns of Physical moves, Pikachu can attack frequently in battles, which is key when fighting other players in ranked online matches. This brings us to the best Moveset for Pikachu.

For the story, focusing on offensive moves will get the job done:

  • Thunderbolt
  • Volt Switch
  • Thunder
  • Thunder Wave

Note that Ground-type Pokemon are completely immune to Electric-type moves, but Pikachu will not be facing them anyways, so this setup works for the campaign. For competitive, this is our recommended loadout:

  • Volt Switch
  • Thunderbolt
  • Dig
  • Protect

This setup allows Pikachu to attack from afar, with defensive maneuvers thrown in to help it avoid attacks. Dig, while a Physical Ground-type move, helps Pikachu dodge incoming attacks by going underground and then retaliating in return after popping back up on the surface directly underneath the opponent. Protect also fully mitigates an instance of incoming damage, so it is best used for wide, heavy-hitting, powerful moves.

Pikachu stats in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Here are the base stats for Pikachu:

  • HP: 35
  • Attack: 55
  • Defense: 40
  • Special Attack: 50
  • Special Defense: 50
  • Speed: 90
  • Total: 320

Pikachu specializes in high Speed, a trait of its Electric-type classification. While it's Atk and Sp. Atk are decent, they can be raised by letting it hold a Light Ball, a Held Item specifically for Pikachu, which increases both stats in battle.
