Best Altaria Moveset and Nature in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Altaria is one of the many sought-after critters in Pokemon Legends Z-A. The evolution to the fluffy bird Swablu is a solid Dragon-type that makes for a great addition to any team. While it cannot be caught out in the wild as a dedicated spawn, players can catch Swablu in Wild Zones 6 and 18 and then evolve it into Altaria at level 35.

Best Nature for Altaria in Pokemon Legends Z-A

The best part about Altaria is that it can work as either a Physical or Speical Attacker as players desire since both its Attack and Special Attack stats are the same. As such, the best nature for it will be either Adamant (Atk+, Sp. Atk-) or Modest (Sp. Atk+, Atk-).

Regardless of which Nature you choose to go after, Altaria can have a mix of Special and Physical moves to balance things out. This brings us to the ideal moveset for this Dragon/Flying Pokemon, which decides the moves it can perform in and out of battle.

For the story, pretty much anything goes. Here's our recommendation:

• Fly
• Dragon Pulse
• Moonblast
• Safeguard

Fly allows escaping danger as Altaria takes to the skies before dropping down on the foe to deal huge damage. Dragon Pulse is a strong, reliable ranged move that can allow it to keep distance from the foe, while Moonblast is a Fairy-type move that can help it deal with other Dragon-types. Lastly, Safeguard is a great move that prevents status conditions, which is great for avoiding moves like Toxic and Will-o'-Wisp.

For competitive, here's what we suggest:

• Brave Bird
• Dragon Pulse
• Moonblast
• Earthquake

Here, Earthquake is a powerful coverage move that hits everything around Altaria, while Brave Bird is one of the strongest Flying-type moves in the game period, though it slightly hurts the user Pokemon too.

Altaria stats in Pokemon Legends Z-A

Here are the base stats for Altaria:

• HP: 75
• Attack: 70
• Defense: 90
• Special Attack: 70
• Special Defense: 105
• Speed: 80
• Total: 490

Altaria also has a Mega Evolution in the game, which can be triggered by handing it an Altarianite obtained upon defeating a Rogue Mega Evolved Altaria in Main Mission 28. Here are its stats:

• HP: 75
• Attack: 110
• Defense: 110
• Special Attack: 110
• Special Defense: 105
• Speed: 80
• Total: 590

Note that while the normal Altaria is a Dragon/Flying-type, Mega Evolution causes it to become a Dragon/Fairy-type. This now makes it vulnerable to Ground-type moves while Mega Evolved, in addition to being weak to Poison and Steel-type attacks.
