The word "dangerous" is one of those words that means different things in different settings. It can have a good or bad connotation, but in football, if a team is dangerous, that's a good thing.
Such is the case with the Chicago Bears. This team had a wicked first season under head coach Ben Johnson last season and jotted up to No. 1 in the NFC North.
Now, they're looking to build on that success for next season. Johnson is hungry for a championship, even though he's still pretty much a newbie coach.
Chicago Bears given a cool label heading into 2026 season
In a feature out on Tuesday, Ralph Vacchiano of Fox Sports ranks each NFL team ahead of training camp. Where do the Bears land? They're at No. 8 on the list. That's a great place to be, too.
There are always concerns about beginner's luck when a team starts off strong with a new coach at the helm. But, Vacchiano doesn't think that's the case here. He says the Bears' offense is going to be even stronger in 2026.
"Their dangerous offense is only going to get better in Year 2 of the Ben Johnson era," he says in the piece. "Their only question is whether they did enough to fix their defense. The jury on that is still out."
It's true that the Bears have to start testing out their defense to make sure it's strong enough to deliver when Caleb Williams is racking up touchdowns. The edge rusher position is a concern, too. But, for now, the Bears are getting good grades ahead of the season.
