Bears trade rumor involving $110 million veteran could lead to deal with Patriots, 49ers or Steelers

The Chicago Bears are shopping multiple players ahead of NFL free agency, and it looks like wide receiver D.J. Moore is one of them.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported on Thursday that Chicago is receiving calls about Moore, and he could be moved for the right price.

Quarterback Tyson Bagent also appears to be on that trade block.

"Two other names the #Bears have received calls on are QB Tyson Bagent and WR DJ Moore, per sources," Schultz said. "Moore has over $23M in guaranteed money in 2026 and is viewed as available for the right price by teams in the WR market."

Moore is coming off the worst season of his career in 2025, tallying career lows in receptions (50) and receiving yards (682).

With Moore's production not living up to his $110 million contract, and the Bears having a few young receivers ready to break out, including Rome Odunze and Luther Burden, trading the veteran playmaker makes a lot of sense.

The New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, and Pittsburgh Steelers could be potential trade partners for the Bears in a Moore deal.

Outside of Stefon Diggs, New England lacks high-end talent at receiver. Acquiring Moore would give the Patriots a dynamic receiver duo and more firepower for quarterback Drake Maye.

San Francisco will move on from Brandon Aiyuk this offseason, and Jauan Jennings is set to hit free agency, meaning receiver could become a pressing need.

Adding Moore would give the 49ers more juice on offense, though he wouldn't solve all their issues at receiver, especially if Jennings departs in free agency.

The Steelers must find a capable No. 2 receiver opposite DK Metcalf, and Moore would fit that bill. Despite a down year in 2025, the 28-year-old has four 1,000-yard campaigns since entering the league in 2018.

Overall, Moore can still be an effective receiver, but he just needs a change of scenery. The Patriots, 49ers, and Steelers need more productive pass-catchers, so they should explore a trade for the Bears veteran.
