Bears' NFC North path: How USC legend Caleb Williams can win NFL division title in Week 17

2 hours ago 2

The Chicago Bears are back in the postseason for the first time since 2020 and have even bigger fish to fry this coming Sunday when they play the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara Sunday night on NBC.

Although.the Bears took care of business at Soldier Field this past Saturday by beating the Green Bay Packers with a singular, now-iconic pass from Caleb Williams who successfully found D.J. Moore for the eventual game-winner to close out a 22-16 OT thriller, Week 17 provides an even bigger goal: winning a division title for the first time since 2018.

There are a few ways the Bears, thanks in large part to Williams' transformation from his rookie to his sophomore NFL season, can make it happen.

The most obvious scenario is simple: win. Regardless of what week it comes in, the Bears will be crowned division champions against the 49ers or Lions. The Lions game is in Chicago in Week 18, with a kickoff time still to be determined.

The Bears can also get some help to win the division this week,  too, as a few possibilities exist.

One of them, though, doesn't involve a tie.

For this week only, Bears fans should be Baltimore Ravens fans. The Ravens play the Packers Saturday night with massive implications for the postseason. But the Bears can rest easier knowing they could have the division wrapped up before taking the field.

Worse-case scenario, the Week 18 rematch with the Lions is a division title game that gets national TV treatment – old-school black and blue-type football.

The way it was meant to be.

Strap in for another fun-filled week of Williams' magic.
