1 hour ago 2

The Chicago Bears have been eyeing pass rusher help this offseason, and there have been substantial rumors that they would be in on Maxx Crosby, the Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher, before he was reportedly traded to the Baltimore Ravens.

However, in a stunning twist, the Raiders announced that the Ravens backed out of the deal for Crosby, and the superstar pass rusher is now available once again for trade.

For the Bears, one of the teams most frequently linked to Crosby, this stunning news now gives them a great chance to pursue Crosby in a trade after initially losing out on a deal to the Ravens.

Bears have chance to trade for Maxx Crosby after stunning twist

The Raiders announced that, "The Baltimore Ravens have backed out of our trade agreement for Maxx Crosby. We will have no further comment at this time."

It's reasonable to wonder why the Ravens are backing out of this trade. For a team like the Bears, who would surely have renewed interest in acquiring Crosby now that he's back available, the reason for the Ravens' backing out of this trade is important.

And according to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, "Maxx Crosby did not pass his physical today, per sources. The Ravens get their first-round picks back."

Baltimore sent a 2026 and 2027 first-rounder to the Raiders for Crosby. The Bears were interested in a similar deal, at least according to various rumors leading up to the reports of the trade between the Raiders and Ravens.

With a big need at pass rusher, and Crosby now stunningly back on the market, the Bears might be able to take a realistic chance on acquiring him. It will cost similar to what the Ravens gave up, but it might not be the exact price tag anymore.

Since Crosby failed his physical, the price tag might also drop amid concerns with his knee injury. The Bears, with their big need, might be able to make a run at Crosby at a cheaper offer than they might have had to trade before.

Crosby has 69.5 career sacks in seven seasons and is a five-time Pro Bowler who would be an incredible pickup for the Bears' defense.

They've resolved one of their safety spots with Coby Bryant, and also added Devin Bush to shore up their linebacker room. Now, with Crosby back on the market, they could land the best pass rusher available this offseason with the Ravens backing out.

While the Raiders are now in a tricky spot, the Bears can use this as a great chance to land a top-tier player.

Ryan Poles and Ben Johnson have a chance to pull off a stunner after initially losing the Crosby sweepstakes. It would still be expensive, but it's something they should seriously consider.
