It has been quite a roller coaster ride for Chicago Bears linebacker D'Marco Jackson in recent weeks.
Jackson finally started seeing consistent snaps on defense in Week 12 and maintained regular playing time through Week 15, when he notched NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors after tallying seven tackles (one for loss), one sack, one interception and two passes defenses.
But Jackson has been nowhere to be found on the defensive side of the ball over the last two games, with the former fifth-round pick not playing a single snap in that span.
Meanwhile, Jackson's special teams snaps have gone back to where they were before his aforementioned four-game surge in defensive playing time.
It was even more surprising to see Jackson not play a single defensive snap in Week 17 after linebacker Noah Sewell went down with an injury that forced his early exit.
Jackson was on the injury report this past week with an illness, but he seemed to be past it by Friday after he turned in a full practice and was removed from the injury report.
Whatever the reason is behind Jackson's rapid decline in work on defense recently, the Bears are going to need him moving forward.
That's because Sewell has reportedly suffered a season-ending Achilles tear, which will leave the Bears short-handed at linebacker.
