Uniform rules in the NFL are tightly regulated. Officials ensure players meet league standards regarding tucked jerseys, visible pads and approved color schemes. Failure to comply can lead to penalties or disciplinary action.

Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby admitted on Tuesday that he knowingly violated the rules in Week 15. He wore custom cleats against the Philadelphia Eagles as a tribute to his daughter.

He added that the NFL made it clear he had to change the cleats immediately or risk being ejected from the game.

"NFL was crying and forced me to take my shoes off," Crosby said, via "The Rush Podcast." "Represent my daughter out there and it says 'Ella' on the front of them. They're freaking cold. So, I was like I'm wearing them, regardless of what they say. I'm taking the fine. I don't care. And I noticed my guy.

"Nico, one of our equipment guys is on the sideline and he's literally holding the white cleats under his arm. I went to Nico, and I'm like, 'What?' And he was like, 'Well, they're going to take you out of the game if you don't change your cleats.' I said, 'I'm finishing this drive,' then I got a sack on my last play in those cleats, so it was fire."

Crosby’s comments sparked reactions from fans.

"NO FUN LEAGUE #NFL," one fan said. "Was wondering why I didn’t see them after the first couple of drives, this league is so dumb man," a fan wrote. "I don’t understand a lot of things about the NFL, but I never got why they are so anal about how players dress. If they are risking their livelihood for entertainment, at least let him rock out. Nobody can defeat the shield," another fan said. "That's dumb because the NFL themselves used to make 'em wear pink for breast cancer awareness month. Now they're fining Maxx?" one fan tweeted. "This weird obsession the @NFL has of forcing players to wear certain colored cleats is so dumb! Glad maxx gave them a nice F**K YOU," a fan commented. "This lame as hell! Let em rock whatever," another fan wrote.

Crosby has continued to be a standout performer despite Las Vegas' challenging season. He anchors the Raiders (2-12) defense, delivering relentless effort and serving as a leader, regardless of the losses.

Maxx Crosby has recorded 10+ sacks for the fourth season

Maxx Crosby recorded his 10th sack of the season on Sunday. He dropped Jalen Hurts in the first half of the Raiders’ 31-0 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles.

The defensive end has four campaigns with 10 or more sacks. He matched Haason Reddick and Trey Hendrickson for the fifth-most 10+ sack seasons in the NFL since he entered the league in 2019.

Crosby’s impact is beyond sacks. His 131st tackle for loss since 2019 leads all NFL players over that span. Crosby overtook Ndamukong Suh (130) for ninth place on the list of tackles for loss among defensive linemen since 2000.

With 26 tackles for loss this season, Crosby also passed Aaron Donald for sixth-most in a season by a defensive lineman in the last 25 years.

Crosby recorded four tackles and a sack in the loss to Philadelphia. While his performance remains impressive, his team is struggling, tied for the worst record this season.
