Bears' Ben Johnson says if he'll bench Case Keenum even after thrilling win

It doesn't get much bigger or better than a win in the NFL with your third-string quarterback. That's the kind of good surprise teams want to happen. That's exactly what happened for the Chicago Bears on Monday night against the Philadelphia Eagles.

On paper, this looked like an easy win for the Eagles, with the Super Bowl-winning quarterback Jalen Hurts at the helm. But Bears third-stringer Case Keenum led the team on offense as their quarterback and pulled off a radiant win.

So, when the team's second-string quarterback Tyson Bagent is ready again, will head coach Ben Johnson have him step in for Keenum? That's the burning question.

Ben Johnson addresses Tyson Bagent's return

After the game, Johnson addressed the idea of the team having Bagent come back to play in place of franchise quarterback Caleb Williams.

"We’ll have a discussion as a coaching staff, and we’ll see where we need to go from here," Johnson said, according to Michael David Smith of NBC Sports. "But I said it last week, and I’ll say it again: There was a reason Tyson ended training camp as our No. 2 quarterback."

So, that wasn't a definitive answer, but Johnson certainly hinted that he's expecting to have Bagent continue to be the team's No. 2 quarterback, and that would mean him stepping in when he's healthy for Keenum. Bears fans may not like it because Keenum has become something of a Bears hero over the past 24 hours, but Johnson is the one who makes the calls.
