Happy All-Star break, MLB fans. It’s a great time to catch your breath and prepare for what should be a wild finish to July, the dog days of August, and a photo finish in the race for postseason spots. With just under 70 games left in the regular season, it’s also a perfect time to check in on some of the National League’s statistical leaders.

National League Leaders at the All-Star Break:

Batting Average

Will Smith leads the National League in batting average heading into the break. Amazingly, he's the only qualified hitter currently batting over .300 this season. Smith is hitting .323. His Dodgers teammate Freddie Freeman and Cardinals infielder Brendan Donovan follow at .297. Sal Frelick of Milwaukee and Josh Naylor of Arizona round out the top five.

Home Runs

Shohei Ohtani leads the NL with 32 home runs at the break. It’s a tight race, though, as Eugenio Suárez sits just behind with 31 and Kyle Schwarber follows closely with 30. Two Cubs sluggers, Seiya Suzuki and Pete Crow-Armstrong, are tied for fourth with 25 apiece.

Runs Batted In

Eugenio Suárez also leads the National League in RBIs with 78. He’s barely ahead of Pete Alonso of the Mets and Seiya Suzuki of the Cubs. Crow-Armstrong and Schwarber complete the top five. With Schwarber sitting at 69 RBIs, there’s still plenty of room for movement over the final 70 games.

Stolen Bases

Oneil Cruz of the Pirates leads the league with 29 stolen bases. Pete Crow-Armstrong is right behind with 27, followed by Elly De La Cruz with 25. Victor Scott II and Trea Turner of the Phillies are next with 24. Four of the top five come from the NL Central, with Turner the only exception.

Wins

Freddy Peralta of the Brewers leads the National League in wins with 11. Matthew Boyd of the Cubs is right behind with 10. Several others are sitting at nine, setting up a potential jumble atop the leaderboard as the season progresses.

Earned Run Average (ERA)

Paul Skenes, who will start the All-Star Game for the National League, leads the league with an ERA of 2.01. Matthew Boyd is next at 2.34, followed by Phillies starters Zack Wheeler and Cristopher Sánchez.

Saves

Robert Suárez of the Padres leads the NL with 28 saves. Trevor Megill of the Brewers is second with 21. Suárez has built a decent lead, and unless things change drastically, he could maintain that top spot the rest of the way.

Strikeouts

Zack Wheeler is the National League leader in strikeouts with 154. Logan Webb is second with 139, while MacKenzie Gore of the Nationals is just behind at 138. Paul Skenes ranks fourth with 131, and Dylan Cease rounds out the top five with 129.

It’ll be fascinating to see how much these numbers change over the next 12 weeks. Between hot streaks, slumps, and injuries, there's still plenty of room for movement on every leaderboard.
