Insider reveals Celtics' Anfernee Simons trade plan as questions mount

When the Boston Celtics traded for Anfernee Simons, it seemed like there was an opportunity for him to be a starter in Boston next season.

However, some have now suggested that the Celtics will look to move on from him over the next few weeks to months.

The Celtics' focus is on getting below the second apron. If they have an opportunity to move Simons in a deal that would allow them to get closer to that goal, it's expected for them to do so.

However, according to a recent report on an NBA live stream on Bleacher Report from Jake Fischer, the Celtics aren't openly shopping him.

He added that it's possible he could be traded, but he doesn't believe that the Celtics are trying to trade him at the moment.

“So at a certain point in time, could Boston just move him? Yes. Are they actively looking to move him? I would say they’re actively open to moving him," Fischer said. "But I don’t think Boston is calling around trying to move Anfernee Simons right now.

"I just think he and his representation are very aware that the Celtics are not married to having him start the season in green and white, but they’d be very happy and willing to do so if that’s the case.”

As Fischer noted, this could change, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him moved, but it's important to note that his representatives would like to be in Boston if that's how things play out.

Simons has the potential to be a very good player, but he doesn't exactly fit what the Celtics are looking for.
