Reports are out. Rumors are circling. LeBron James and the Lakers could be headed for a split sooner than later.
Since the four-time NBA champion opted into his $52.6 million player option with Los Angeles, analysts and fans are theorizing where he could end up next. One of his former teammates appeared on ESPN with a wild suggestion.
Udonis Haslem, who played with James from 2010-2014, was asked about LeBron's future and alluded to a potential return to South Beach.

Haslem doesn't specifically say Miami Heat. He could be referencing any team. But with his career-long tenure with Miami and LeBron's past there, it's safe to assume that UD would want to see his former teammate back in South Beach.
Haslem, who has been serving as a color analyst for ESPN, also serves as the Vice President of Basketball Development for the organization. He spent his entire 20-year career with the team and was a captain for 16 seasons. If anyone is at liberty to open the gates, it's him.
On the other hand, Pat Riley is the decision maker in Miami and maybe he feels differently. LeBron didn't leave the Heat on bad terms necessarily but they wanted to retain him and he chose to return to Cleveland.
Haslem's public declaration is good news for a LeBron-Miami reunion simply because he would have Riley's ear on a decision like that. James and Haslem won two titles together in South Beach and have maintained a great relationship.
Still, it's not a given that LeBron is leaving the Lakers and the Heat may be better suited building around their younger players.
Either way, it's an intriguing thought to see LeBron in the black and red once again.
