Barcelona's Clasico defensive blueprint revealed as Vinicius, Mbappe plan takes shape before Real Madrid clash

Four days remain before Barcelona visit the Santiago Bernabeu and anticipation is building for another chapter in Spanish football’s most storied rivalry.

Both clubs will come into this game with European victories behind them.

Barcelona’s 6-1 win over Olympiacos restored attacking rhythm, where Hansi Flick's side ran rout at Estadi Olympic Lluis Companys.

But before that clash the Catalan giants have their fair share of difficulties as well with some defensive lapses exploited by Girona and Sevilla earlier.

Real Madrid’s narrow 1-0 success against Juventus showed control in possession but left questions about their edge in attack.

Hansi Flick may trust Araujo to counter Vinicius

According to the Sport, Flick is expected to count on his full defensive unit for the trip, including Kounde, Cubarsi, Eric García, Balde, Gerard Martín, Andreas Christensen and Ronald Araújo.

The Uruguayan, who scored a late winner against Girona and has started six matches this season is expected to remain a key tactical card.

His previous duels with Vinicius Junior have often defined Clasicos and Flick could again trust him to counter Madrid’s pace in transitions led by Mbappé and Vinicius.

Araujo’s strength in recovery and aerial duels could make him a  likely starter alongside Cubarsi while Kounde could offer additional support on the right.

Christensen, recovering from stomach discomfort, is expected to travel, with Ferran Torres and Raphinha also available.
