Baltimore Orioles trade proposal answers biggest question by landing right-hander who throws 100 MPH

The Baltimore Orioles were one of the more aggressive teams in Major League Baseball during the offseason, but it still feels like they could use more on the mound. If the Orioles want to compete with the top teams in the American League, not only do they have to be better offensively from what they were a season ago, but they need to be a lot better on the mound

In a mock trade from Thomas Carelli of Sports Illustrated, Baltimore would acquire electric right-hander Hunter Greene from the Cincinnati Reds in a deal built around average talent.

Orioles receive: Greene

Reds receive: Dean Kremer, Three Top-20 Orioles prospects

“Baltimore really wants to see their team great again. They have a deep rotation, but it's not very good. It is all mid-tier starters from Trevor Rogers down to Kyle Bradish and Shane Baz,” Carelli wrote.

Adding Greene would immediately change any questions the Orioles have about their rotation, short and long term, as he's one of the best young starters in baseball.

“By adding Greene, they secure a high-end ace that can carry this young team for the next few years. It is a glaring weakness that the Orioles can now strengthen,” he added.

Green dealt with an injury last season, but bounced back nicely in the second half. He ended up posting a 2.76 ERA and striking out 132 batters in just 107.2 innings. It's tough to see why the Reds would move on from him, but if the Orioles could grab him for this package, it's an easy deal to make.
