The San Francisco Giants, featuring Willy Adames, Logan Webb, and Matt Chapman, had a great start to the 2025 season but tumbled their way in the end. However, it was the first year of the aforementioned trio playing together, and they would have learned a lot about each other and how that can benefit the team.

On Wednesday, Giants broadcaster Mike Krukow was asked who he thinks are the leaders of this franchise. Krukow said there are seven to eight names fitting to be a leader, including Rafael Devers, but he thinks the above-mentioned trio will have the most impact on the team.

"So I think it’s about a seven- or eight-man leadership group," Krukow said. "But I do believe that the main control of the team always comes down to a couple of guys. And I think right now the backbone of this team is probably the three I mentioned: Adames, Chapman, and Webb. So I think that’s a plus coming into the season."

Krukow explained that as the season has progressed, the trio has started trusting each other.

"Well, Willy Adames, number one," Krukow said. "I mean, he’s hit his comfort zone. And I think the relationship that he’s developed with Matt Chapman, with Logan Webb, really with all the veterans in the clubhouse, there’s a trust now that they didn’t have at the start of the year."

Krukow also mentioned how Devers has hit the comfort zone with the franchise after being traded by the Boston Red Sox. While the third baseman didn't have the best start, he started showing his worth eventually.

Willy Adames, Logan Webb, Matt Chapman anchoring Giants in own way

Shortstop Willy Adames signed a seven-year, $182 million contract and followed it up with a historic season. He became the first Giant since 2004 Barry Bonds to hit 30 homers in a campaign. Adames' run production in the middle order proved to be of value for the Giants.

Right-hander Logan Webb had another fine season in the National League, as he led the NL with 224 strikeouts. He also inserted his name in Giants' history as he became the third pitcher, after Madison Bumgarner and Tim Lincecum, to have multiple 10+ strikeout outings with no walks.

Meanwhile, third baseman Matt Chapman was an asset on both sides of the ball. He batted .231 with 21 home runs and 61 RBIs.

All three combined are expected to elevate the Giants in the near future.
