India Women are taking on Australia Women in the second semifinal of the ICC Women's World Cup 2025 at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. The winner of this contest will take on South Africa in the final at the same venue on November 2. Australia topped the league stage, with six wins and one no result, while India finished fourth, with seven points from seven matches.
The Aussies will head into the knockout clash against the Women in Blue as firm favorites. It goes without saying that India will have to come up with something special to knock Australia out of the competition. They will take inspiration from the 2017 semifinal, when Harmanpreet Kaur produced a blinder to stun the Aussies.
India suffered a major setback ahead of the knockout clash as in-form opener Pratika Rawal was ruled out due to injury. She has been replaced by Shafali Verma. It would be fair to say that the Women in Blue have not been at their best in the tournament so far, but they do have a great opportunity to pull off something extraordinary against the Aussies on Thursday.
