Vandegrift is one step away from getting the chance to repeat as state champs. The Vipers come in at 12-2.
They began their playoff run by getting a walk-off field goal to beat Austin Westlake, 16-14, in the bi-district round. Last week, the Vipers held off Dripping Springs, 27-20, to win the regional title.
Sheldon King also comes in at 12-2, and the Panthers have reeled off five straight wins. Last week, they held off Humble Summer Creek, 24-21, to win their regional championship.
Friday’s semifinal winner plays DeSoto, which held off Southlake Carroll, 51-44, in the other semifinal on Saturday. That championship game takes place next Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
