Auburn wide receiver Malcolm Simmons plans to enter the transfer portal when it opens Jan. 2, according to a report from On3's Hayes Fawcett.

A native of Alexander City, Ala., Simmons arrived at Auburn in 2024 as part of the Tigers’ top-10 recruiting class and made an immediate impact as a true freshman. He finished his first season with 40 receptions for 451 yards and three touchdowns while also contributing as a punt returner.

Simmons followed that with a productive sophomore campaign, totaling 25 catches for 457 yards and three touchdowns. He closed the season strong, posting back-to-back 100-yard performances. Simmons recorded a career-high 149 receiving yards and a touchdown against Mercer, then led Auburn in the Iron Bowl with 143 yards on just three receptions and a score.

Simmons becomes the third Auburn wide receiver planning to transfer, joining Perry Thompson and Horatio Fields. All three were among the Tigers’ top five receivers, which is a significant turnover at the position.

Under new coach Alex Golesh, Auburn is expected to aggressively pursue portal additions as it reshapes its receiving corps heading into 2026.

Simmons will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next stop.
