Sports analyst Jason Whitlock has called out Maria Taylor for using a "victim narrative" while discussing her ESPN exit the day after the 2021 NBA Finals concluded on July 20. Taylor appeared on the "7 PM in Brooklyn" podcast last week and spilled the beans on her rather acrimonious split from ESPN.

“The last thing someone told me at my former employer was, ‘You’ll never be seen on TV again.,” Taylor said.

However, when Whitlock caught wind of Taylor's comments, he tweeted his opinion on the matter.

"There's no one with a brain who thought she (Maria Taylor) would never be seen on TV again. It's not believable. The desire to be a victim of discrimination or hostility is just overwhelming. The job with NBC was already lined up. Attractive. Black woman. Feminist. Leftist. Talented. TV drools for that," Jason Whitlock tweeted.

Taylor's split from ESPN in July 2021 came only a few weeks after "The New York Times" reported tensions within the network over a white colleague's recorded comments that suggested Taylor was likely given a more prominent role because she was Black. There were also rumors that talks of a contract extension between Taylor and ESPN broke down multiple times.

Nonetheless, a day after leaving ESPN, Taylor transitioned to covering the Tokyo Olympics for NBC.

On Sunday, US President Donald Trump was at Northwest Stadium in Maryland to watch the Washington Commanders play the Detroit Lions. Trump visited the Fox broadcast booth during the contest in the third quarter, much to the delight of Jason Whitlock.

"Trump interview is the first time I've seen Fox Sports depart from ESPN in a significant way. That was amazing. President Trump did a good job," Whitlock tweeted on Sunday.

The Lions won the game 44-22. However, Trump reportedly left the stadium before the final whistle.
