Athletics get more bad news after 11th straight loss

The Athletics are not having a good 2025 season. For starters, they are playing their home games in a minor league stadium in Sacramento as they are in transition to move to Las Vegas.

Now, the Athletics have lost 11 in a row. On Saturday, the Athletics were ahead, 6-5, going into the top of the ninth inning before the Philadelphia Phillies tied it. The Phillies would win, 9-6, in 11 innings in a tough loss for the Athletics.

To make things worse (as if it could get much worse), the Athletics saw Nick Kurtz suffer an injury. In the bottom of the 10th, Kurtz was the automatic runner at second and advanced to third on a CJ Alexander single.

After that, he was removed from the game, and the Athletics got an update after the game, per MLB.com reporter Martin Gallegos

"Nick Kurtz exited with a left hip flexor injury. He’s day to day. A’s will see how he feels tomorrow."

It's a tough blow for the Athletics, as Kurtz was a player that brought some excitement to a fan base desperate for some entertainment. Kurtz had a pair of hits and an RBI on Saturday before exiting the game, and he had a huge home run on Friday.

Kurtz has at least one hit in four of the last five games and at least one RBI in each of the last five, so this will be a huge loss if he has to land on the IL.

So, the Athletics will hold their breath to see what happens, but 11 straight losses and now an injury to Kurtz is crushing news.
