Asuka has shared her side of the story regarding an incident with a former WWE star. The Empress of Tomorrow was seemingly taken aback by the negative comments about what happened, so she had to release a statement.
In an appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Shayna Baszler brought up the time she accidentally kicked Asuka in the face and chipped her teeth out during a match on the February 22, 2022 edition of RAW. Baszler was laughing and appeared to mocked Asuka's backstage reaction to the incident.
The current WWE Women's Tag Team Champion responded on X, formerly known as Twitter, explaining that she was just being nice to Baszler. She was in a lot of pain and even had the surgery, but she kept it to herself because she didn't want The Queen of Spades to feel guilty about her mistake.
"My tooth was fractured due to a mistake by Shayna Baszler. At the time I told her I was okay because I did not want her to carry the guilt. But I ended up needing surgery and of course I was not okay. I just did not want her to feel responsible knowing that these things happen in our line of work," the Grand Slam Champion tweeted. It's unclear what comments made by fans were insensitive to Asuka, but it could also be how nonchalant Shayna Baszler was in telling the story. Nevertheless, it's an issue that could be hashed out privately, rather than on social media.
Asuka and Kairi Sane defending their titles against Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY
The Kabuki Warriors are putting their WWE Women's Tag Team Championship on the line on the first episode of RAW in 2026. Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY will look to win their first tag team gold on January 5 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
There will be two more title matches on the card, including CM Punk vs. Bron Breakker for the World Heavyweight Championship and Maxxine Dupri vs. Becky Lynch for the Women's Intercontinental Championship.
In addition to being the first RAW of 2026, it's also the first anniversary of RAW on Netflix. Both parties are cooking up something big for the show, which involves the popular show Stranger Things.
