As Bill Belichick weathers media backlash, his bodyguard Chad sparks his own

The co-hosts of the Sports Gossip Show podcast, Madeline Hill and Charlotte Wilder, attended the 2025 Miss Maine pageant to check out the 24-year-old girlfriend of sports legend Bill Belichick — but ended up saving most of their critique skills for the coach’s security guard, Chad.

The women said on the Sunday, May 11 episode of their show that Chad, whose last name is unknown, was so obvious about his boss’ whereabouts throughout the weekend that they dubbed him “Mr. Magoo,” after the famously lumbering cartoon character. Belichick is currently navigating media backlash, due to some incidents surrounding his relationship with his much-younger girlfriend, including an April 30 CBS interview she interrupted.

“It's truly like Mr. Magoo,” Wilder said. “The whole thing was kind of a movie…He was like the son who can't really figure out how to do anything.”

The critique started after the podcasters overheard Chad announce that Belichick was on his way to the Portland Holiday Inn, where the Miss Maine pageant took place May 10 and 11. Belichick, 73, sat in the front row for both days of the pageant, for which his girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, 24, was a front-runner. She ended up taking third place.

“I'm sorry — if you're a security guard who is trying to not make it known that your client is there, don't say [it] to the local front desk guy at a normal-speaking volume,” Wilder said. “Keep it on the down-low…The fact that the first thing I hear when I walked into the Holiday Inn on Friday was Chad tell the front desk guy, ‘Hey, Bill Belichick’s coming…’”

Wilder and Hill wondered why Chad, whom Wilder called their “bald, security guard friend,” had his sports legend boss walk in front of the pageant audience instead of using one of the obvious emergency doors — especially since the podcasters had already spotted paparazzi in the hotel lobby.

“Bill Belichick, eight-time Super Bowl winner and the current head coach of UNC…” Wilder said before Hill cut in, “One of the most important figures in modern-day sports history is in a suit walking into the ballroom at a Holiday Inn to watch his 24-year-old girlfriend compete for the title of Miss Maine.”

The journalists were also beside themselves that the audience of Maine residents — known to be rabid fans of the New England Patriots, for which Belichick won six Super Bowls as head coach— were mostly chill about his presence at the event.

“Like three people took pictures,” Wilder said. “Nobody gave a sh** that Bill Belichick had just lumbered into the room — walked across the entire front of the stage.”

“Chad, what were you doing?” she asked. “[Bill] walked out of a door, walked across the entire room, and sat on the far end of the first row.”

“But it was great for us!” Hill said.

“Chad, my guy, do a better job of your recon work,” Hill concluded. “Dude, make it a little less obvious.”
