Arteta agrees new Arsenal contract

Mikel Arteta has agreed a new deal to extend his stay at Arsenal.

The 44-year-old's existing contract with the Premier League champions, signed in September 2024, was due to expire next summer.

But the Spaniard, who was appointed in 2019, has committed his future to the club and confirmation of his new agreement is expected during this international break.

When asked about his contract situation ahead of Arsenal's trip to Brighton on Saturday, Arteta said: "I think we are all very much aligned; whenever the time is right, we'll get that done. There is nothing to be concerned about.

"I think we both have the same ambition and the same will. So whenever we have time, we'll get that resolved."

Arteta has transformed Arsenal's fortunes during his tenure and guided the club to their first Premier League title in 22 years last season following three straight second-place finishes.

He also led the Gunners to only their second Champions League final, which they lost on penalties to Paris Saint-Germain. He has previously won an FA Cup and three Community Shields.
