Arsenal technical director departs amid internal club restructuring

Arsenalhave parted company with technical director James Ellis just seven months after his promotion to the role.

Ellis stepped into the position last summer after previously serving as the club's head of recruitment, but his tenure in the technical director's role has proven brief.

His departure comes amid a period of internal restructuring as Arsenal reshape their football operations department.

The north London club have been refining their executive structure in recent months with Andrea Berta now assuming the role of sporting director, taking over responsibilities following Jason Ayto's exit last summer.

Berta, widely regarded as one of Europe's most experienced operators, signalled a clear intention from Arsenal to evolve their recruitment and squad-building model.

Further changes were confirmed in November when Napoli's former head of scouting, Maurizio Micheli, had joined the Gunners in a senior recruitment capacity.

Micheli's arrival added another experienced voice to the club's executive decision makers, although the club have not commented publicly on the move.

With Berta now firmly in place and Micheli integrated into the recruitment department, the club’s operational direction is becoming clearer.
