Arsenal suffer major roadblock in pursuit of Serie A star

Arsenal are determined to add reinforcements in attack in this summer transfer window and therefore they have lined up several players in each position in their wish list. Mikel Arteta is keen on improving the attack as he wants to add more goals to this roster, an area where he felt his team struggled last season.

The Gunners have been chasing several attack-minded players in recent few weeks. Amidst their left-wing options, Juventus star player Kenan Yildiz has always been one of the targets for the North London outfit.

Alongside the likes of Nico Williams, Morgan Rogers, Yildiz has also been in Arsenal's shortlist for left-wingers. The 20-year-old, who can also double up as a second striker or attacking midfielder, has established himself as one of the best attacking talents in Italy.

However, Arsenal have suffered a major blow in their pursuit of the Turkiye international. Reports on Tuttosport suggest that Juventus have slapped an eye-watering asking fee in excess of €100million (£84m) for the versatile forward.

Also reports in Italy suggest that Juventus are also keen on fending off interest from Arsenal and are considering a contract extension for the 20-year-old. He still has full four years left in his contract, but the Bianconeri are reportedly looking to reward him by increasing his salary for his exceptional performances last season.

Arsenal  and several Premier League clubs have sent scouts many times in the last few months as Arteta is a big admirer of the young forward.

Who is Juventus star Kenan Yildiz?

Born in Bavaria, Yildiz has featured for Bayern Munich's youth setup since 2012, and he was with the German giants until 2022 before moving on to Juventus. He initially featured for Juve's youth team before rising through the ranks in 2023.

Yildiz netted nine goals and six assists last season for Juventus, he became the second-most productive U-20 player in Europe following Barcelona's Lamine Yamal.

While Arsenal are reportedly open to spending €60 million on a new winger this summer but Juventus' current valuation for Yildiz, puts him in a zone where the Gunners will be forced to look away.

Juventus are reportedly set to increase the Turkish winger's salary with a new contract. He currently earns €1.5m per year and Juventus are ready to offer him a salary in the region of €3m-€4m per season plus bonuses.
