Arsenal's impenetrable defence: The last time Mikel Arteta's side conceded a goal

6 hours ago 1

October has turned out to be a perfect month for Arsenal, with the side winning all their games in the month and advancing forward in multiple competitions.

Wednesday night's 2-0 victory over Brighton in the Carabao Cup fourth round ensured Mikel Arteta's men would continue fighting on all fronts for now this season.

A key factor in Arsenal's dominant run of late is the sheer consistency displayed within the team's current defensive unit.

Starting centre-halves William Saliba and Gabriel continue to lead by example at the back, while Jurrien Timber, Riccardo Calafiori and Christhian Mosquera have rarely put a foot wrong defensively this season.

Goalkeeper David Raya has remained a strong last line of defence, proving capable of pulling out crucial saves when required.

When did Arsenal last concede?

Only Liverpool, Manchester City and Newcastle United have managed to score against Arsenal this season.

Nick Woltemade's headed goal for Newcastle in a 2-1 loss to The Gunners in late September was in fact the last time the current Premier League leaders conceded a goal in any competition.

Since then, Arteta's side are on a six-game run without letting the opposition score past them.

After the shutout against Fabian Hurzeler's side on Wednesday night at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal have finished with a clean sheet in each of their October fixtures.

Prior to shutting out Brighton, the North London side were impenetrable against Olympiacos and Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, plus West Ham, Fulham and Crystal Palace in the league.

Arsenal will look to carry their impressive defensive solidity into next month, starting with the team's league trip to Burnley this Saturday (November 1).
