William Saliba is expected to rejoin Arsenal's full first-team training this week as he edges closer to returning from injury, The Sporting News understands.
The France international limped out of the Gunners' defeat to Liverpool before the international break but was back in training ahead of Saturday's clash with Nottingham Forest, raising hopes of an early comeback.
Saliba ultimately sat out the match, a decision Mikel Arteta later explained was down to caution rather than any fresh concern.
"He trained on Friday and he did the whole session and he was OK," Arteta said.
"I spoke to him afterwards and he said, ‘I think I need a few more days’. The turnaround has been too quick for the extent of the injury so when a player says that, don’t push it."

Cristhian Mosquera deputised alongside Gabriel and impressed again, following up a strong display at Anfield with another assured performance at the weekend.
Arteta suggested the summer signing could provide genuine competition for his established defensive pairing.
"This kid wants it a lot and he's so willing to learn," the Arsenal boss added.
"He's got some great qualities that fit very well in any position that we want to use him."
Saliba's imminent return comes at a crucial time for Arsenal, who kick off their Champions League campaign away to Athletic Club on Tuesday before hosting Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium next weekend.
