The New York Jets made a huge addition to their offensive line on Thursday night in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft after taking offensive tackle Armand Membou out of Missouri with the No. 7 overall pick.
The Jets had a dire need at tackle, as the team is currently slated to start Olu Fashanu, who the jury is still out on, and Chukwuma Okorafor, who abruptly walked away from the New England Patriots last season.
When it comes to his rookie deal, Sportac revealed that Membou will get a fully guaranteed four-year, $31.8 million contract. He'll also receive a $19.8 million signing bonus and the deal includes a fifth-year option for 2029.
Membou excels as a run-blocker, but he's no slouch in pass protection. Experts think he could play at guard or tackle at the next level, but we'd suspect he'll play right tackle in Year 1, with Fashanu playing on the left side.
Here's what The Draft Network wrote on Membou in its scouting report:
"All in all, there’s room for growth with Armand Membou, but at his very worst, you’re getting an instant-impact player at either tackle or guard. He’s a start-and-forget lineman with elite fundamentals and great athletic traits."
With their No. 7 pick in the books, the Jets will next be on the clock with the No. 42 overall pick, which falls in the second round. However, don't be shocked if the Jets ultimately trade up from that pick.
