Lost's Daniel Dae Kim exclusively shared with E! News his and wife Mia Kim's secret to their 30-year marriage at the 2025 TIME100 Gala, calling her a "very patient woman."
Daniel Dae Kim Reveals Secret to 30-Year Marriage With Wife Mia Kim
Daniel Dae Kim would be lost without his wife Mia Kim.
In fact, the Hawaii Five-0 alum credits his partner of over 30 years as the key to their decades-long marriage as well as his successful acting career.
"She's a very patient woman," he exclusively told E! News April 24 at the TIME100 Gala, where he was honored as one of the magazine's most influential people of 2025. "My wife—being patient as I traipse around the world, going from job to job—she's kept our family stable. She's been fantastic."
And family is everything for the 56-year-old, who shares adult sons Zander and Jackson with Mia.
"They shape my values," Daniel explained. "They keep me humble no matter what's happening, and they keep me in check no matter how much success I might be having."

In Daniel's TIME profile, he was described as a "successful producer and director and a devoted husband and father" by Lost co-creator J.J. Abrams.
"Daniel Dae Kim contains multitudes," the filmmaker wrote. "When Kim combines his talent, skill, and humanity as an advocate for equality, he becomes a force of nature. I’ve seen this firsthand. When we made the Lost pilot, Kim insisted his character’s arc defy stereotypes."
He continued, "A career like Kim’s is rare. But even rarer is a willingness to use success not just for oneself, but for others—a quality that makes Daniel Dae Kim a leading voice in the fight for change."

So, what did Daniel think of the high praise?
"I have respected and loved J.J. for a really long time, so I was nervous when I saw that he had written the introduction," he told E! with a chuckle, "and I was relieved to find out that the way I feel about him was somewhat mutual."
