Newly released security video captured the moment a gun-toting maniac opens fire on a crowd in Arizona, wounding nine people — seconds before hero cops shot him and put an end to the rampage.
David Leroy French, 21, allegedly got into a beef with a group of people outside Empire Pizza & Pub in Tucson shortly after 2 a.m. on July 19 — then pulled out a gun and opened fire, according to a report and footage obtained by AZFamily.
The brazen shooter is seen squeezing off round after round into the crowd — which is off screen — as he walks backward along the sidewalk before he takes off running, making bystanders scramble for cover.
Less than 10 seconds later, Tucson cops corralled the fleeing gunman down the street, with the clip showing him tumble to the sidewalk after being shot by police, the outlet reported.
The officers who nabbed him were on routine patrol in the area and rushed toward the gunshots, Fox10 Phoenix reported.
French is then surrounded by cops before EMS arrives and transports him to the hospital, where he was initially listed in critical condition.
He was arraigned from his hospital bed on Thursday and charged with assault and weapons possession.
In a post on Instagram, the owners of the pizzeria where the shooting occurred suggested that the mass shooting was a symptom of downtown Tucson getting more dangerous recently.
“We were disheartened to see the focus of this tragedy shift to gun control,” it said. “Whether or not you believe in gun control has zero applicability to what has been happening downtown over the past few years.”
French was already on probation after pleading guilty to an earlier shooting in October 2024.
