Injuries continued to ravage the LA Lakers as the franchise listed five players on the injury report ahead of the Memphis Grizzlies game on Friday. Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura and Gabe Vincent, who are three huge pieces of the Lakers roster, were ruled out owing to their respective injuries.

To make matters worse, rookie Adou Thiero was diagnosed with a right MCL sprain, ruling him out for multiple weeks. Defensive stalwart Jarred Vanderbilt was listed as questionable with right leg soreness, putting him in real danger of missing the Grizzlies game.

The Lakers fans were in dismay after the Purple and Gold released their lengthy injury list on New Year's Day. Fans flooded the internet, raising alarm bells and voicing growing concerns over the franchise’s title hopes this season.

they fired the scouting dept but not the medical staff. its just the bad medical staff.

A fan commented:

Might as well. Luck into a lottery pick with cap space and build with luka and reaves.

Another commented:

Wouldn’t be surprising if they are, but it’s unfortunate that a team with Luka, LeBron and Reaves would just pack it in like that to be a lottery team.

Austin Reaves and Adou Thiero are out for a longer period

Austin Reaves was recently diagnosed with a left calf strain, which ruled him out for at least four weeks. In this duration, the star guard is guaranteed to miss at least 14 games, with his return dependent on how he fares during his reevaluation.

Reaves, who was making a strong case for his first All-Star selection before getting sidelined with injury, has already missed the previous two games. In his absence, the Lakers looked even more disjointed in their offense than they had earlier, with Luka Doncic and LeBron James in the lineup.

Adou Thiero's injury is even more concerning as the rookie has sustained three knee-related injuries in the span of one year. His latest injury setback has ruled him out for at least four weeks.

Rui Hachimura's injury isn't as concerning, with the Japanese forward expected to return next week. Meanwhile, there is no timeline for Gabe Vincent's return, who has missed the last games due to a lumbar back strain.
